Why We Only Work With the Best
There is a version of this brand that could have launched faster, priced lower, and cut corners no one would have noticed.
We chose not to.
Every decision at RIEN begins with a single question: would we wear this ourselves? Not occasionally. Every day. And that question makes compromise very difficult.
It Starts With the Silver
925 sterling silver is the highest standard for silver jewellery. The number refers to purity — 92.5% fine silver, alloyed just enough to hold its shape and stand up to a life actually being lived. It is the same standard used by the world's finest silversmiths. It is hypoallergenic, substantial in the hand, and has a quality of light that lesser metals simply cannot replicate.
Fast fashion jewellery is typically brass or zinc — metals that are cheap to plate and quick to betray you. The gold fades. The skin turns. The piece gets discarded. We had no interest in making something disposable.
Then Comes the Gold
Once we committed to sterling silver, the gold had to match it.18K white gold vermeil is not a coating. It is a considered layer of real gold — 75% pure — applied with intention and thickness. But we go further than the standard requires.
Our factory operates its own dedicated plating facility, which means the gold is never outsourced, never rushed, and never compromised by a third party's standards. Every RIEN piece receives three separate layers of 18K gold — each applied, dried, and inspected before the next begins. The result is a depth of finish that a single-pass plate simply cannot achieve: richer in colour, more even in coverage, and built to last through a life actually being worn.
Where standard gold plating measures in fractions of a micron, ours is built in stages. The difference is not subtle. You feel it the moment you put it on.
From Sketch to Your Hands
Before any metal is touched, every RIEN design begins as a hand sketch. A line on paper, worked and reworked until the proportion feels right — the way a sculptor works in clay before committing to stone.
From there, each sketch moves into 3D modelling, where form becomes precise. Curves are refined. Weight is considered. The piece is interrogated from every angle before it is ever made physical. This process is slow by design. Rushing it would show.
Only then does production begin — careful, considered, and held to a standard that most people will never see but will always feel.
When your order is placed, your piece is prepared and packaged with the same attention it took to design it. It arrives as something worth receiving.
What This Means For You
You are not buying a trend. You are buying something made with genuine care, in materials chosen for their quality rather than their margin.
RIEN jewellery is designed to be worn every day, through a real life — and to look exactly like itself, years from now.
That is the only standard we know how to work to.
